Rocks and trout - a great combination for hikers and connoisseurs It's been 15 years since the "Felsenweg" near Losheim was voted the best hiking trail in Germany - the beginning of the dreamy hiking trail career of the small federal state on the French border. The "Forellenhof" in Waldhölzbach is located near the parking lot at the entrance to this path, which is still worth experiencing - and, above all, at the end of it. Exactly the right place to strengthen and relax after 14.5 kilometers. Especially in the outdoor season! A romantic beer or trout garden not only invites you to a final drink, but above all to a final dinner. And I've never got this fish fresher: the cook marches to the trout pond to order, nets the objects of desire (yes, he also kills them, of course) and has them served 20 minutes later by the knowledgeable and super-brisk service staff. Perhaps not the optimal "workflow" for more fundamentalist animal rights activists, but a clear signal for the difference between industrial food production and traditional food ... Yes, it is a pleasure to eat freshly caught fish here with a variety of garnishes. Yes, the (white) wines are recommended. Yes, the service is professional - not only for rural standards! Yes, actually I should give it 5 stars! 4 only because it makes a difference whether I dine in a "temple of the senses of taste" or in a recommendable, but rather simple location with really tasty regional fish from the in-house pond. Definitely worth a visit!

You can't eat fresh trout, here you can watch the fish being fished out of the water and a few minutes later you have it on your plate. The taste is super delicious, I can only recommend.

The outdoor area with the trout pond looks great, but the fresh fish is served baked, but not boned.

Nice beer garden and good food

Hello, I booked a double room for two nights until 08/09/20 Stay in hotels more often, but this was my worst choice. Even the arrival did not promise anything good, No friendly reception, musty service, no or grumbling allocation of seats, no information. The experiences continued with the appraisal of the room. Eighties style, decomposing, rotten shower hose, but at least reasonably clean. The rolls at breakfast were still totally hot, baked, far below gas station level, Full trash can in the outside area, no tablecloth, cobwebs in the inside breakfast room, no question whether everything fits or something is missing. Better not to eat there. We left the accommodation after I had to correct the entry for the credit card bill. The already completely overpriced almost 200 € for the two nights dropped one decimal place to 1970 €. The person turned out to be resistant to complaints at checkout. All in all, the grade was 'poor' in a 'still smelling of smoke' environment in which a dog with a muzzle was still attached. Nevertheless, he was friendly in his possibilities .. Gerald Berberich

I put 3 stars for the frame. On the other hand, the reception was very cold, the waitress unpleasant and the dish average.

The weekend spent in the trout farm. Nice little cozy rooms, great atmosphere at the trout pond where the cook catches and prepares every trout you order. I am happy to come back.

Have a rest and drink during an MTB tour in the Forellenhof. Very nice beer garden with an adjacent pond. Service very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Home-style inn with top trout straight from the pond in the garden. Super nice landlady from the "old" stroke. And well-kept rooms at a great price. However, a little ringed. All in all a top address if you are not down to luxury but down to earth.

Surprisingly good. A very attentive, fun-loving waitress. The food was really tasty. The beer garden is nicely laid out and the trout can't wait to jump on the plate. Located directly on the Felsensteig and barefoot hiking trail.
